This is for my family who still live on the original Sasse ranch and all of their Pine Creek friends and neighbors. Together they beat the beast of flames. Neighbors helping neighbors. My brother along with Diane my sister Kathy and numerous other family members sat in the green meadow that surrounded them. Bert and his family evacuated to the meadow and moved farm equipment to the green haven. After making fire lines around the entire immediate property, they sat and waited through the night and watched the inferno engulf them. The photos that I have taken does not do justice to the real images seen with the eye. I left on a morning to photograph when the wind was howling and along with it was dust and ash not allowing clear images of what I really saw. I started in North Pine Creek and travel Henry Road, Hagood Road and then up the loop of South Pine Creek Road toward Ayer's ranch, the old Omar Smith ranch, Gerald and Bobbi Scholz, Gireaths, Bunk Barb Jason Jill Ayers, Roberta Scholz, Mary Corey, my mama's old home, upward to the Call's and back down to North Pine Creek.

Just a weed
Just a weed but nothing better than a backlit one. Here is a simple before and after edit of a dandelion.
"Mud Puddles and Dandelions
Author Unknown"
"When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are
going to take over my yard. My kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can wish on.
When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and I look away. My kids see someone smiling at them and they smile back.
When I hear music I love, I know I can't carry a tune and don't have much rhythm so I sit self-conscious and listen. My kids feel the beat; they dance and sing out loud, even if they don't know The words.
When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk. My kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.
When I see a mud puddle I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets. My kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross, and worms to play with.
I wonder if we are given kids to teach or to learn from?
Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. "
Heaven needed mom
HEAVEN NEEDED MOM
So many things of mom I miss
Her gentle hug and tender kiss
I still can feel her warm embrace
And picture yet her loving face
A mother's tasks are never done
And heaven must have needed one
For angels came and took her hand
And led her to God's promised land
She's surely kept quite busy there
While brushing little angel's hair
And making sure they're dressed just right
Not staying out too late at night
Although there's sadness..this I know
She's waiting there her face aglow
I close my eyes and I can see
Her arms still open
Wide for me
I love you mom....Patty

Dance like no one is watching

I LOVE TEACHABLE MOMENTS. First day of tap dance and not everyone's shoes arrived. Stuff happens right? So someone close to my heart decides to pout and will not dance in bare feet because "it's no fun if you can't make noise." So I ask her " is it possible to dance without music?" The look on her face told me "DUH". She replied, "oh coarse." Teachable moment "then you can dance without shoes." I then reminded her of how we danced in the dairy isle in Beyers Market last week and we twirled and dipped. She remembered that was fun
